Apple iPhone 5S with fingerprint sensor and Touch ID

Apple announced Apple iPhone 5s along with the low cost version of the phone for emerging markets. Apple’s 2013 launch has been very much on expected lines with most leaks turning out to be true.  It will be available in three colors – silver, gold and slate. Let’s take a look at what’s inside the iPhone 5S. The iPhone 5S is powered by new Apple A7 chip with support for 64 bit architecture. which it claims is twice as fast as the iPhone 5 and 40 times fast as the original iPhone. Apple has reconfigured iOS 7 to be able to run 64-bit apps and all preloaded apps have been re-engineered. The iPhone 5S will be able to run both 32-bit and 64-bit apps. The A7 chip will be accompanied by a new M7 “motion coprocessor” that will continuously measure accelerometer, compass and gyroscope and feed that data to any app that needs it. The display of the device is similar to iPhone 5 with a 4 inch IPS screen with a Retina display of 1136 x 640 pixels. The device will be running on iOS 7. As always, the iPhone 5S will be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB for $199, $299 and $399 respectively on a two-year contract in the and unlocked version will be US $649 (Rs 41,750 approximately). Pre-orders for the device are set to begin later this month on September 13 and it will go on sale alongside the iPhone 5S on September 20 in select countries.

The headlining feature of the phone is what Apple calls Touch ID. The fingerprint sensor in the phone is called TouchID which captures high quality image of the consumer’s fingerprint and then uses it to unlock the phone. Apple says it can recognize fingerprints irrespective of which direction the thumb is placed. The home button is now covered with a layer sapphire crystal to ensure it doesn’t get scratched. Apple says the fingerprint data won’t be stored on its servers and won’t be available to third-party apps.
Camera -
Company has also improved the camera features of its iPhone device because the Apple iPhone 5s comes with a lot of new automatic camera features that are designed to capture better quality photos with more light. The iSight 8MP rear camera present on the phone comes with auto image stabilization which helps to capture slow-mo videos and avoids blurry pictures camera to its predecessor, but now it features a larger sensor of 1.5 microns. iPhone 5S also has a dual LED arrangement called as True Tone flash since it intelligently figures out the light requirement of the situation as one of the flash is cooler white, while other is warmer ember. The A7 chip used in iPhone 5S comes with a new Image Signal Processor (ISP) which allows for faster image capture and up to 2x faster autofocus. It also enable Burst Mode, which can capture 10 photos per second, making sure you don’t miss any important moment so the camera takes multiple photos and picks up the sharpest one. The camera also gets auto image stabilization and can shoot 720p videos in 120fps. It also comes with 1.2MP front facing shooter capable of 720p HD quality recording for video calls etc.
Battery -
The iPhone 5s claims to offer up to 10 hours of talk time on 3G and standby time of 250 hours. In contrast, the iPhone 5 claims to deliver 8 hours of talk time on 3G and standby time of 225 hours.
